Six days in an Airbnb in Fairplay, Colorado, that's how long Hollow Head took to track this self-titled record, a fast, cramped process matching the harder turn the songs take. Jim Adame and Elliott Miller split vocals over guitar and drums, joined by Ian Gerrard on guitar and John Baldwin on bass, pushing past their indie-folk start toward raw alt-rock and 90s grunge indebted to Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. Miller calls it the band's first true record, more cohesive than their debut, A Spark of Madness, thanks to closer collaboration between the two songwriters.
