Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights LP

HIM's third album brought keyboardist Janne 'Burton' Puurtinen into the band for the first time, and producer Kevin Shirley caught the group right as it topped the charts in both Finland and Austria while reaching number two in Germany and Switzerland. It went platinum at home and gold across Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Three singles, 'Pretending,' 'In Joy and Sorrow,' and 'Heartache Every Moment,' all landed in the top two back in Finland, proof the band had turned gloom into something radio couldn't say no to.
