Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark is Gwenifer Raymond's third studio album and her first for We Are Busy Bodies after two records on Tompkins Square, a label shift worth noting since it marks a new chapter rather than a new sound. The Cardiff-born, Brighton-based guitarist still works in instrumental fingerstyle, pulling from Mississippi and Appalachian blues through John Fahey's droning American Primitive style. She holds a PhD in astrophysics from Cardiff University and has also scored film work, including a new soundtrack for the 1907 silent French horror short The Red Spectre.
