Moenie and Kitchi LP

Here's the trick: Adam Pierce of Mice Parade produced Moenie and Kitchi and played nearly every instrument on it himself, yet the record still sounds like one person alone in a room, since Meredith Godreau, recording as Gregory and the Hawk since the early 2000s and named for her brother's imaginary childhood hawk, cut her vocals and guitar live in single takes. FatCat Records signed her after a rep happened to catch her set at Southpaw in Brooklyn, a scouting story almost too casual for how far the album traveled, landing her a three-continent tour alongside múm and The Album Leaf.
