Dolphin LP

Picture two guys who don't quite agree arguing their way to a good record: that's Dolphin, teaming British jazz keyboardist Greg Foat with Italian ambient and synth player Gigi Masin on Strut Records. Foat keeps pulling toward jazz phrasing while Masin drags things back into atmosphere, and the best stretches come when London regulars Tom Herbert on bass and Moses Boyd on drums show up to referee. Critics couldn't agree if the pairing fully clicks, but nobody disputed it's a distinctive, mellow listen.
