Plastic Beach is ostensibly a concept record about a floating island built from ocean garbage, which makes it funny that Damon Albarn stocked the island with A-listers instead of debris, packing in Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, Lou Reed, De La Soul, and Bobby Womack. That much star wattage on a junk heap somehow still charted like a pop record, landing at number two on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. Stylo, built around Mos Def and Womack, did the heavy lifting on the rollout.
