EV3 came out in June 1997 on East West/Elektra after eight months of recording, and it debuted at number 8 on both the Billboard 200 and the R&B album chart, the group's best opening week yet, later going platinum. Dawn Robinson left in April 1997, late enough in the process that the remaining trio had to go back and re-record several of her lead vocals themselves. "Don't Let Go (Love)" made it to number 2 on the Hot 100 and topped the R&B chart anyway.
