Ella and Louis LP

Norman Granz picked the eleven ballads for this 1956 pairing of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, but Armstrong kept final say on keys and sequencing, a reminder of who really ran the session. Recorded August 16, 1956 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood with Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Ray Brown and Buddy Rich, it was the first of three Verve albums the pair made after their Decca dates in the late 1940s.
