Funny thing about Duran Duran, one of the defining bands of Britain's early-80s New Romantic scene: they came up out of art-school post-punk clubs and then ran toward synth-pop, new wave, and pop rock, like kids who took one look at punk's scowl and decided glamour paid better. Greatest, compiled in 1998, rounds up nineteen singles from 1980 to 1997, "Girls on Film" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" through "Ordinary World," the catalog that made them fixtures of MTV's Second British Invasion and picked up platinum certifications in multiple countries.
