Cadillac Warning LP

A Cadillac rigged with its own rapping car alarm carried DJ Spanish Fly's tapes around Memphis before the city's sound ever broke nationally. Antonio Kimbrough, a foundational figure in Memphis rap, started as a teenage DJ and MC at Club Expo in the late 1980s, looping samples off a boombox to build the tracks. Bootlegged copies traveled as far as New Orleans, Atlanta and St. Louis, carrying Memphis rap and the buckin' dance style with them, and A$AP Rocky, Yo Gotti and Three 6 Mafia have all cited him as an influence.
