Auto-Pain is the second record from Deeper, the Chicago trio of Nic Gohl, Drew McBride, and Shiraz Bhatti, out on Fire Talk in 2020. The title flips the soma drug from Brave New World, chasing clarity instead of numbness through songs about mortality, mental illness, and loss. Bhatti worked pow wow drumming patterns into a few tracks, and the cover shows Chicago's demolished Prentice Women's Hospital. Pressed blood red.
