Four Orange County high schoolers burned through exactly one year, 1977, before three of them regrouped as the Simpletones. What's left here crackles like a live wire cut short: two originals and a cover of the Avengers' 'We Are the One,' the only recordings Child Abuse made before scattering. It's a small, unglamorous slice of early Southern California punk, cut before anyone in the band was known for anything else.
