Ellroy vs L.A. LP

Calibro 35 built their sound in 2007 around vintage Italian crime-film scores, the project of producer Tommaso Colliva and guitarist Massimo Martellotta out of Milan, a sound sampled since on Dr. Dre's Compton and Jay-Z's "Picasso Baby." Ellroy vs L.A. started life as the score for Francesco Zippel's documentary of the same name, with the band treating James Ellroy's noir Los Angeles as a starting point for cinematic funk rather than mood-music filler. Record Kicks, their longtime label, puts it out.
