Don Rich's guitar and fiddle drive the Buckaroos hard behind Buck Owens on this 1965 Capitol record, cut right at the commercial peak of the Bakersfield sound. It topped Billboard's Country Albums chart and later landed in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Critic Cub Koda described Owens' sound here as freight-train rumbling honky-tonk at full force, and the record backs him up track for track. It doesn't slow down to explain itself.
