True Violet LP

Rayland Baxter wrote more than seventy songs alone out in rural Tennessee before he cut it down to this, his first record in over four years since If I Were a Butterfly. Nick Waterhouse and Paul Butler co-produced for ATO Records, and Baxter calls the results very personal and bloody, the title itself built to hold anger and sadness tangled together rather than apart. It opens on 'Better Man,' co-written with Tyler Ballgame, a song about getting through it.
