Ed Mazzucco started Shelflife out of a Southern California bedroom in 1995, pointing straight at Sarah Records and Slumberland, and by the time this 1999 set of Autocollants recordings dropped, the label had turned devotion into a house style. That's the joke: a label named Shelflife outlived its own West Coast run before decamping to Portland, while these tracks stay planted in jangly, melodic guitar pop that never once blinks toward reinvention.
