Not a Pretty Girl 2LP

Not a Pretty Girl is Ani DiFranco's sixth album, cut for her own Righteous Babe Records, the label she built in Buffalo to stay out of major-label hands. It's just her percussive acoustic guitar against Andy Stochansky's drums, nothing else, before she started adding electric bands and guest players on later records. The Village Voice gave it an A-minus, and the title track plus "Shy" turned into career staples. Stripped-down, confessional folk-rock, and still one of her sharpest sets.
