In Greenwich Village LP

Free jazz has a reputation for chaos, but In Greenwich Village runs on an oddly disciplined low end: two bassists drawn from Henry Grimes, Bill Folwell, and Alan Silva, anchored by drummer Beaver Harris, with brother Donald Ayler's trumpet cutting through on top. Cut live at the Village Vanguard and Village Theatre for Ayler's Impulse! debut, it earned five stars from DownBeat at the time and a later verdict from AllMusic as his best record for the label. Superior Viaduct handles this pressing.
