About Neko Case

Neko Richelle Case was born in Alexandria, Virginia on September 8, 1970. She was raised in multiple American cities and had a difficult childhood. She relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia in the early 1990s where she studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. She has been active as a member of the indie rock supergroup the New Pornographers since 1999 alongside her solo career. Her distinctive voice - powerful and emotionally direct, drawing on classic country and pop traditions - has been widely cited. Her 2006 album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and 2009 follow-up Middle Cyclone established her as one of the most important contemporary alt-country singer-songwriters. She has continued releasing material across multiple decades.
