Industrial & Noise Vinyl Records

Industrial music set out to be confrontational and never really stopped. Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire invented it in a haze of tape loops and menace; EBM and electro-industrial made it danceable; and the noise end (Merzbow and the harsh-noise underground) pushed it to the absolute edge of what a record can do to a room. This is not background music. It's a section for people who want their vinyl to mean it, and our city has always had a soft spot for the heavy stuff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between industrial and noise?
Industrial usually keeps some rhythmic or structural backbone (often danceable, as with EBM); noise abandons that for pure texture and intensity. The harsh-noise end is the deepest end of the pool.

Is this listenable, or just punishing?
Both, depending on where you dig. The EBM and early-industrial end is surprisingly catchy; the harsh-noise end is an acquired and committed taste. We can point you to either.
