Glass Beams

Glass Beams formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2018 around Rajan Silva, a masked instrumental trio whose beaded disguises nod to Silva's Indian heritage. About Glass Beams

Glass Beams formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2018 around Rajan Silva. The band performs as a three-piece, all members wearing elaborate beaded masks that obscure their faces - Silva has described the masks as drawing on his Indian heritage and the broader anonymity-focused project aesthetic. They signed with Ninja Tune for Mahal (2024) following the cult success of the Mirage EP (2021) and the addition of a global touring schedule across 2023-2024.

Sound and style

Glass Beams' sound combines psychedelic rock, instrumental rock, krautrock, Afro-funk, raga rock, and global psych with extensive integration of Indian musical influences, hypnotic groove-oriented arrangements, and atmospheric textures. Their work bridges contemporary instrumental rock with global music traditions.
