A previously unreleased live recording of drum legend Art Blakey with a classic line-up of the Jazz Messengers. It was captured on January 14, 1961, at Hibiya Public Hall in Tokyo during the band's first-ever tour of Japan.
Drummer Art Blakey recorded Indestructible-his final album for Blue Note-in 1964 with a powerful sextet line-up of The Jazz Messengers featuring Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton, and Reggie Workman.
The Colour and The Shape exceeded all artistic and commerical expectations and established Foo Fighters as a full fledged band. This is arguably the album where the Foos came into their own.
