Wu-Lu, the South London musician Miles Romans-Hopcraft, came up through the Steam Down collective and that city's jazz and punk DIY scene, and his debut for Warp Records refuses to sit still in one genre. Dub bass shoves up against hardcore leaning guitar noise and hip-hop production, each one shouldering the others out of the way for a few bars before giving ground. It landed strong reviews as one of the more distinctive guitar records to come out of South London's current scene.
