Whitesnake's biggest hit came from a band that didn't survive its own success: "Here I Go Again," a re-recording of a track from 1982's Saints & Sinners, finally hit No. 1 alongside "Still of the Night" and "Is This Love," pushing the self-titled album to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and past 15 million copies sold. David Coverdale wrote and cut most of it with guitarist John Sykes, who was already gone before Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell, Rudy Sarzo, and Tommy Aldridge stepped in to shoot videos and tour behind it.
