Hi Tide Groove 2LP

Fat Possum handed this one to Daisuke Kuroda, a Japanese vinyl digger with a funk habit, and he built Hi Tide Groove around the Memphis sound Willie Mitchell stacked thick with horns at Hi Records. Al Green and Ann Peebles anchor it, sure, but the real find is in the deep cuts from Syl Johnson, O.V. Wright, and George Jackson, pulled from across the label's run from the late sixties into the early eighties. Two records in, this is where the Hi Records story opens up past the few names everybody already knows.
