Slave Ambient CD

Adam Granduciel spent close to three years assembling Slave Ambient with producers Jeff Zeigler and John Congleton, and the record still carries that patchwork, hazy, krautrock leaning heartland rock built up in layers rather than cut live. Kurt Vile, the band's early guitarist who'd already launched his own solo career by then, still turns up on a couple of tracks, including "Best Night," a holdover that connects this record back to the band's earlier lineup. It made year end lists at Uncut and picked up a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork.
