Hard Life LP

Owen Williams and George Nicholls formed The Tubs in Cardiff in 2018, not long after leaving noise-pop band Joanna Gruesome, and Hard Life is the third album to come from it, their first for Merge after Dead Meat and Cotton Crown on Trouble in Mind. Williams, who sings and writes the lyrics, splits the record between two voices that grapple with each other: one sinking into "navel gazing about romantic abjection," and a second that mocks him for it.
