Rubber Soul came together in about thirteen days at EMI Studios in December 1965, George Martin producing during a rare stretch when the Beatles weren't touring or filming, a tight take that never loosens. It topped the UK and US charts, advance American orders passing 500,000 copies, a record then. Martin later said it was where the band started treating albums as art. Half-speed mastered on 180 gram vinyl, pulled from the original tapes.
