Occasional Rain LP

Occasional Rain, Terry Callier's second album, kicked off his whole trilogy with producer and arranger Charles Stepney, cut at Chicago's Ter Mar Studios in 1971 for a 1972 release on Cadet. Minnie Riperton and Kitty Haywood float soprano parts over Stepney's harpsichord and organ while Callier holds down guitar and voice, soul, jazz, and psychedelic folk stacked together like they were always meant to share a shelf. Pitchfork gave it a 9.0 decades later, pointing straight at the title track for anyone starting out in psych folk. Slow Down Sounds handles this edition.
