Soft Animals borrows its title from Mary Oliver's poem "Wild Geese," which is a strange amount of literary reach for a six-track EP Sofi Tukker put out themselves. The gamble paid off fast: lead single "Drinkee" landed a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording barely a couple of years after the duo first started writing songs together at Brown University. Self-released acts don't usually get nominated this quickly, which is exactly the joke the EP's confidence seems to be in on.
