Album LP

John Lydon walked a supermarket joke into a studio and hired an army to make it swing: Bill Laswell on bass and behind the boards, Steve Vai's guitar, Ginger Baker and Tony Williams splitting the drum stool, Bernie Worrell on keys, Ryuichi Sakamoto on synth. He called the LP Album, flat as a soup-can label, and buried inside it sits 'Rise,' the biggest single he'd release under the PiL name, cracking number 11 on its own. The album made it to number 14 on the UK chart, still the sharpest joke on the shelf.
