Rob Cavallo produced this concept record about a dying patient called simply The Patient, and Reprise shipped it straight to number two, kept off the top by the Hannah Montana soundtrack. It went 4x Platinum in the US, Canada, and the UK anyway. Welcome to the Black Parade gave the band their only UK number one and their one US top-ten single, the peak they never matched again.
