Mass Appeal Records, the label Nas co-founded to back hip-hop artists with real control over their own sound, is home to Mez's debut full-length, Electric Future Gangster, after years spent stacking guest spots and production credits instead of stepping into the spotlight himself. Before this record, he directed the video for Dahi's Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark feature "How to Pray," the kind of credit that explains his range across music, film, and visual art. This pressing puts that debut on wax, where it can sit alongside the collaborators he spent years working behind.
