Intentions LP

Close to a decade in Chicago's underground beat scene shaped megiapa's sound, starting with sample-based tracks made in Audacity before she moved to Los Angeles in 2023. Intentions is her debut full-length for International Anthem, and it folds in live players like pianist Ahmad Muhammad and drummer Mekala Session around material she began writing in Chicago and finished after the move west. The record blends jazz-inflected R&B, electronic production and hip-hop into a synth-driven neo-soul style, with past collaborators including Stacy Epps and Mocky.
