Dream a Little Dream marks the point where Cass Elliot stepped out from the Mamas & the Papas and released a solo debut in 1968 on Dunhill, despite disliking the "Mama Cass" billing on the cover. The title single reached number 12 on the US pop chart and number 2 on Adult Contemporary, backed by session players including Stephen Stills, John Sebastian, James Burton, and Hal Blaine. Sales were modest at the time, but it's become a warm, well-loved record of her solo turn.
