Trust is Low's sixth album, the Duluth, Minnesota trio led by married couple Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, whose hushed tempos and close harmonies helped define slowcore through the 1990s. Kranky released it, Tchad Blake mixed it, and the thirteen songs split critics down the middle: NME gave it 8 out of 10, Pitchfork landed at 6.5. Restraint holds the whole thing together, and the tension never lets up.
