Two years is a long time to sit with heartbreak before you hand it over on record, and that's what Lizzy McAlpine did making Angel, her fourth album for RCA with producers Mason Stoops and Taylor Mackall, who also worked on her 2024 album Older. Recorded in Los Angeles, it moves through love, heartbreak, and friendship by way of 1970s Laurel Canyon folk and contemporary indie rock. It's also the first McAlpine cover not built around her own face, with artwork from artist tidy.totes instead.
