Ogum Xango 2LP

Two guitars, one percussionist, two voices trading lines: that's the entire instrumentation on this 1975 session, cut as a loose, improvised duet between Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil with Djalma Correa on percussion. Released in Brazil as Ogum Xango, named for two Yoruba deities, it slots in between each man's other mid-decade solo records. AllMusic's John Bush has rated it the best album in Gil's catalog, and Rolling Stone Brasil later placed it among the 100 greatest Brazilian albums.
