This turned out to be Jon Hassell's eighteenth and final studio album, released on his own Ndeya label as a companion piece to 2018's Listening to Pictures, Pentimento Volume One. He co-produced it with guitarist Rick Cox at Studio Venice, still working the layered, blurred trumpet-and-electronics approach he'd spent decades calling "Fourth World" music. The catalog it closes out shaped ambient and electronic musicians well beyond jazz circles.
