This split single sets two bossa-leaning outsiders back to back. John Roseboro runs his own label, Public Confession Art House, out of Brooklyn, building horn-dusted arrangements under an unhurried baritone he calls "post-bossa." Mei Semones, a Japanese-American singer and guitarist on Bayonet Records whose debut, Animaru, splices J-pop, bossa nova, and indie rock into something Pitchfork and Clash both noticed, joins Roseboro for a cover of Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Waters of March."
