John Lee Hooker is sort of a myth. He ran away from home at 14 and started playing the blues on the street, and much of his life is unknown. Even his birthday can't be tracked down (somewhere between 1917 and 1924) In "It Serve You Right To Suffer" he lays down 30 minutes of blues goodness filled with incredible storytelling and droning style blues progressions. Songs like "Country Boy" and "You're Wrong" detail his deeply passionate songwriting using a voice that has seen some shit. This album makes you pay attention.
