Chopping Mountain LP

Chopping Mountain is Ibibio Sound Machine's sixth album, and the first they've fully self-produced since 2019's Doko Mien, with saxophonist and keyboardist Max Grunhard behind the board for both. The London Afrobeat-and-disco group, fronted by singer Eno Williams, cut it at their own Vanguard Studios in South London, building tracks out of jam sessions locked onto grooves and single instruments. Fela Kuti sideman Dele Sosimi guests on bonus track "Give Me Peace" (a CD/digital exclusive, not part of this vinyl pressing), and lead single "Concept of Love" leans into the record's afro-house pulse.
