Harold Budd spent decades making minimalist piano sound like a held breath, working alongside Brian Eno and the Cocteau Twins along the way. In the Mist was cut at Orangewood Studio in Arizona in 2011: hushed piano, a few tracks brushed with electronics, new writing for string quartet, all arranged into three named movements. Budd died in 2020, and this Darla release counts among the more chamber leaning, restrained corners of a catalog that never raised its voice.
