Satan, Sex, & No Regrets LP

Harley Poe came out of a Christian punk band breaking up in Kokomo, Indiana back in 2004, and frontman Joseph Whiteford took the wreckage somewhere stranger: horror-movie folk punk played mostly on acoustic instruments, gallows humor included. Rue Morgue named 'Satan, Sex, & No Regrets' its album of the year in 2012, which is a strange sentence until you hear 'Transvestites Can Be Cannibals Too' or 'The Hearse Song' and realize the jokes sit on top of actual songwriting, not instead of it. Calling it 'murder folk' undersells how much craft is doing the heavy lifting underneath the gore.
