Power-Fuerza LP

The Ghetto Brothers started out as a South Bronx gang before Benjy Melendez and his brothers pushed the group toward community organizing, brokering the 1971 gang peace treaty that Afrika Bambaataa attended and later credited as a spark for hip-hop's birth. Power-Fuerza channels that same spirit into funk-driven, Latin-percussion rock built on Beatles-style melodies, cut in a single day at a Manhattan studio for Salsa Records. It never broke beyond a local following at the time, but original pressings now sell for well over a thousand dollars among collectors.
