F.U. Don't Take It Personal moves like a sparring match, three voices trading fast combinations instead of taking turns. The trio of Chip Fu, Moc Fu, and Poc Fu, out of East Flatbush, Brooklyn, made their debut for Jive Records with A Tribe Called Quest producing part of it; the record charted on the Billboard 200 and went gold behind "Ring the Alarm," "La Schmoove," and "True Fuschnick," plus a guest verse from Phife Dawg. Their martial-arts and Asian pop-culture imagery predated Wu-Tang Clan's version of the same idea.
