From a Basement on the Hill CASSETTE

Pieced together after Smith's death in 2003, this pulls fifteen tracks from the sessions and reels he left behind for an intended double album. Rob Schnapf and bassist Joanna Bolme finished and mixed the material at the family's request, keeping his own takes rather than re-recording or adding new parts. Critics received it as near-unanimous, hearing a heavier, more expansive sound running alongside the close-mic'd intimacy that had always marked his songwriting.
