Dora Jar spent 2022 opening for Billie Eilish on the Happier Than Ever World Tour before Island Records signed her that same year, and her debut, No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire, pushes her dreamy, surrealist pop through a voice so soft it barely pushes back. She's named influences as far apart as Foo Fighters, Outkast and Puccini, which tracks once you hear how the songs shift shape mid-sentence. It follows her 2022 EP Comfortably in Pain, which critics measured against Faye Webster and St. Vincent.
