Dead Poet Society came together at Berklee in 2013 and played a show two days later, then found an audience nobody predicted when a Mexican blog picked up their music online in 2016. Frontman Jack Underkofler calls the sound "heavy indie rock" and "djent pop"; AllMusic pegged it as dark alternative hard rock with progressive touches, which tracks with the down-tuned riffs set against softer, pop-leaning melodies here. This is the band's first full-length since signing to Spinefarm Records in 2020, their genre-label debut.
