You Belong There LP

Daniel Rossen left Brooklyn behind for rural upstate New York and then New Mexico before cutting You Belong There, his first solo full-length, for Warp. He's been Grizzly Bear's co-lead voice since 2006's Yellow House and half of Department of Eagles with Fred Nicolaus, but here he picks up woodwinds and upright bass for the first time, instruments that pull the record into quieter, more open rooms than his band work usually allows. The pastoral, intricate songwriting carries over, built around a restlessness that never quite settles into homesickness or away from it.
